To inspire in all our children a deep sense of imagination, and equip them with knowledge, to develop their fullest God-given potential, and be the difference needed to make the world a better place.

Our Christian inspiration

Essential in our school vision is the view that we are a community. The idea of community, is one that is rooted in the Christian understanding that each of us is created in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:26), and that together we form ‘one Body’ (Romans 12:5).

Our community is one that is united by love. This love is not to be confused with a superficial notion of love (e.g. as an emotion), it is the deep understanding of love as divine, for ‘God is love (1 John 4:8). Therefore, a community that is loving, is an incarnation of divine love, and unified by being a loving community- ‘God is love, and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them.’ (1 John 4 :16). Fundamental in our realisation of this love, is the living out of Jesus’ command to ‘love your neighbour as yourself’ (Matthew 22:39). Our school values of hope, endurance, friendship, humility and compassion are outworkings of this love.

Our community is not just a community of believers, it encompasses all, ‘For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ.’ (1 Corinthians 12:12).

Our vision, in line with the Church of England’s, is for the common good of the whole human community and its environment (C of E Vision for Education). It is one where we want each child in our community to be able to flourish and have life in abundance. (John 10:10)

Central to our vision is the idea of growth. We grow and learn together; the community grows by ‘building itself up in love’ (Ephesians 4:16). The bible is rich in metaphors for growth, and Jesus’ parables serve to guide us in our daily life at school. We want our school to be the ‘good soil’ (parable of the sower, Mark 4: 8) where our children can develop and their God-given potential and grow in knowledge and wisdom, so they have ‘a future with hope’ (Jerimiah 29:11).

Spirituality statement

As a Church of England Trust, we teach an awareness that is greater than the immediate and an appreciation of the awe and wonder of God’s love. We value the beauty and diversity of creation and all humanity, whilst courageously and prayerfully addressing big questions and small details.  We develop spirituality which inspires us to work with our communities to live life in all its fullness, reflect God's love and support our mission of 'Life - Transforming - Learning.'
